CASE STUDY - OXFORD UNIVERSITIES MOTORSPORT FOUNDATION

As part of our Autosport 2007 exhibition we held a competition to win a printed marquee. As per a previous entry on the website news it was the Oxford Universities Motorsport Foundation that won the marquee.

The OUMF was founded in 2005 as an independent, pan-university student initiative to promote practical engineering and associated skills through the exciting medium of motor racing and so encourage a lifetime interest in all aspects of the sport.

It provides ‘hands-on’ practical experience of historic and other aspects of motor sports to students and aims to bridge the increasing skills and age gap that is threatening all engineering and manufacturing industries in the UK.

Over the last year OUMF have been competing and displaying their ongoing projects at various rallies and car shows. They have raced their Alfa Romeo GTAm replica racecar at the Alfa Romeo Owners Club endurance race at Snetterton, competed in many 12 car road rallies organised by Oxford Motor Club and Dolphin MC and displayed at Race Retro Show and Goodwood Festival Of Speed.

The marquee that we did for them has proved invaluable to them and was used to house the ‘ongoing project’ that was displayed at the Race Retro Show at Stoneleigh Park. The OUMF stand was the host of the celebrity autograph stand. OUMF were told that that the stand ‘looked extremely impressive’.

Top Marquees are pleased that the OUMF were the name drawn from the hat to win the marquee as we feel that they are doing a wonderful job of promoting hands-on experience to students that will help them in their careers and give them a chance to develop a passion about an interesting and fulfilling pastime.

As our marquee is built to last and is covered by a 3-year warranty we feel that OUMF will have many more years of usage from the marquee.

And the final word goes to Jon at OUMF who said ‘Thanks for all your support, we definitely couldn’t have done it without our marquee especially at the VERY wet Goodwood Festival of Speed!’

If you wish to learn more about the OUMF please send an email to info@oumf.org or call 07761 823609.

Please feel free to call the Top Marquees to see what we can do for you!

How It Goes Together....

Listening to our customers needs we changed the way that we put together our sides.

We were making seperate corners to go with our sides and found that customers often lost these 'flaps' that cover the leg of the marquee, so we looked at how the side was put together and decided to change to an all-in-one side.

This means that we now have the 'flap' as an integral part of the side and they just velcro to each other round the leg making it much easier to use and giving a much neater finish.

This also means that customers cannot loose flaps - One less thing to worry about when trying to remember everything you need for a show!!

Material in Our Marquees

Continuing to drive our marquees to be high quality and eye catching we introduced using 500 Denier Polyester.

This was done for two reasons, the first being that the print quality that we get using polyester is far better than using our previous nylon material. Secondly it gives our marquees a professional and stylish finish.

This will then enhance the first impression that customers will have upon seeing the branded marquee.

Digital Printer

Top Marquees launched their new in-house digital printer in 2007 to help customers promote their product through strong and colourful branding on their marquees banners and flags.

This has created many marquees that we are proud to say that we have printed, including ones for Virgin, Fitness First, Oscar Pet Foods, Candis and many more.

The Winner Of Free Marquee Competition 2007

Top Marquees had great pleasure in announcing the winner of their Autosport International exclusive competition, launched at the exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham in 2007.

The proud new owner of a Bespoke 4.5m x 3m Top Marquee is Ding Boston and his team from the Oxford Universities Motorsport Foundation.

Ding is delighted with the marquee that is used for when he and his team of students are working on the rebuild of another car.

Last year, his student team successfully re-built an Alfa GTAm replica. This year, his old student team will be teaching his new one to rebuild a similar Alfa, which they proudly exhibited at the Race Retro - International Historic Motorsport Show 2007.
